Training Opportunities

Division of Research Seminars and Training – The WSU Division of Research offers a variety of training opportunities related to research for faculty, postdocs and graduate students.

Scholarly Writing Workshops for Graduate Students – The WSU Graduate School sponsors a series of workshops to promote the development of scholarly writing skills.

Research Consulting - The WSU Technology Resource Center offers faculty, researchers and graduate students assistance with all areas of the research process that uses computing software, including refining research questions, preparing data for statistical analysis, and selecting programs that satisfy data analysis needs.

Guide to Alerting Services - Many online journals and databases offer alerting services that notify subscribers of new issues of a journal or new results from a search. This guide describes various alerting services and provides links to publishers offering these services.

COS Scholar Universe - This searchable database helps researchers identify colleagues that have shared interests and expands awareness of current research and publications in your field of interest.

Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects (CRISP) - A database of federally funded biomedical research projects that can be searched for scientific concepts, emerging trends and techniques, or specific projects or investigators.

Writing Resources

Graduate Student Writing Resources – This website from the WSU Graduate School provides a variety of resources to assist graduate students writing dissertations, articles, theses, grant proposals, and prospectuses.

Scholarly Writing Workshops for Graduate Students – The WSU Graduate School sponsors a series of workshops to promote the development of scholarly writing skills.

Managing Citations – EndNote is a citation management software package that WSU has made available to all WSU faculty, staff and students.

NIH Public Access Policy – This website is designed to help NIH grant recipients at WSU comply with NIH reporting requirements.

Journal Impact Factor Guide – This resource allows users to determine the Journal Impact Factors for over 7,500 scholarly and technical journals in the sciences and social sciences.

Instructions to Authors in the Health Sciences – This website links to web pages that provide instructions to authors for over 3,500 journals in the health and life sciences.

Journal Abbreviation Sources is a registry of Web resources that list or provide access to the full title of journal abbreviations.

Publisher Copyright Policies – This website allows users to search for a summary of permissions that are normally given as part of each publisher's copyright transfer agreement.

Addendum to Standard Publisher Copyright Assignment – This MS Word document provides a template for modifying a publisher's copyright agreement.

Scholar's Copyright Addendum Engine – This website helps authors generate a PDF form that can be attached to a journal publisher's copyright agreement to ensure that the authors retain certain rights.

SPARC Addendum Publication Agreement – This form can be used to modify a publisher's agreement to allow authors to keep key rights to their articles.
